Meet Allan Were

Allan Were

Founder & Principal

Allan Were is a global health, strategy and organizational leadership executive with more than 20 years of experience helping organizations strengthen performance, build partnerships, develop markets and deliver complex programs.

His career spans the private sector and international development, giving him a distinctive perspective on how market discipline, organizational strategy and public-purpose leadership can work together to achieve sustainable impact.

Allan has held senior leadership roles with Management Sciences for Health and Abt Associates and served as Chief of Party for the USAID NetMark Project in Uganda. Earlier in his career, he worked in branding and marketing with Unilever. Across these roles, he has led complex international programs and initiatives involving global health, supply chains, service delivery, communications, capacity strengthening, business development and public-private partnerships.

Through Viable Initiatives Consulting, Allan brings that cross-sector experience to organizations seeking not simply advice, but practical strategies they can execute and sustain.
